I have two dogs here in the Philippines:
A Siberian Husky, (3 year old-bitch,) called Mei-mei
and
a Small Pitbull Terrier (5 year-old bitch,) called Shoubi

How come, when I take my two dogs for a walk; they are quite happy to sniff around until they come-up with the most disgusting half-rotten 'food' they can find - and then eat it-up with glee???

Yet when I try to palm-them-off with a few slightly burnt longanisa, (a kind of a Filipino sausage) - and some perfectly fresh but cold rice - they look at it with disdain, turn their noses up and walk away??!!!!

I mean... My dogs have invented their own new menu item. It's called "Crispy Daga..."

There is a wonderfully healthy Filipino food called "Crispy Pata." It basically consists of deep-fried pigs bones with the skin on...

Tasty? Yes!

Healthy? Well OK - no, not exactly...

Anyway, my dogs' version consists of the remains of a long-dead rat, which has basically degenerated into a bit of a skeleton and the remains of some manky fur.

They both seem to think that "Crispy Daga" is an absolute delicacy!!???!!!!! :bad: :bad: 80 :fool:

One good thing with dogs is that, generally speaking, they don't 'make tampo'

Tampo is a Filipino word that basically translates as 'throwing a moody, sulking and giving your partner the silent treatment for days on end...'

'Tampo' can be caused by any number of reasons, real or imagined - or even for no good reason at all - other than the fact that the 'injured' party, (usually the female - but not always,) wants to test their partner to see if he/she still loves him/her. A 'tampo' can even start just because the 'injured' party can do it - and they feel like doing it! Sometimes the route-cause is nothing more than the fact that 'tampo' is just a normal part of Filipino culture. (It can even become habit-forming...)

And the only way to get your partner out of her (or his) 'tampo' is to engage in a very public show of at least pretending that you are sorry. (In the Philippines, private apologies seldom work in these circumstances...)

Dogs don't generally make 'make tampo!'

I say "generally" because Mei-mei did come close to it once! She had piddled on the living room floor one morning. I was late getting-up, so it wasn't really her fault... I had someone staying overnight and I was a bit embarrassed, so I did shout at her, (Mei-mei, that is!) - before putting her outside. Later, my friend told me to let Mei-mei back into the house - but she wouldn't come back inside. My friend told me that I had embarrassed Mei-mei - and, of course, she was right.

Anyway, that little incident aside... I can come back home as drunk as a skunk at 4am, having spent the night on the razz somewhere - and both of my dogs are just thrilled to see me! Shoubi may well let-out a little rumble of reproach. And Mei-mei is not averse to giving my hand a gentle nibble, if she thinks that she has been neglected. But neither of them go off in a sulk and ignore me for days on end...

Well Itchy ears are more common in some dogs than others, and especially for those who have long, droopy ears. Itchy ears can be caused because of following factors.

Ear Mites:-Ear mites are usually accompanied by a wax that has a similar appearance to coffee grounds. Ear mites can be treated with specialized ear drops.

Allergies:-Dogs suffering from allergies may also lick their feet or face obsessively. Allergies are often caused by bug bites, food ingredients.

Tumors:- itchy ears could cause a tumor in the dog's ear. If all other causes have been ruled out, Then its time to call veterinarian.

Thanks for the advice!

Yeah... My dogs a basically pretty healthy and well-cared for.
I only wish that I had more time with them - (and FOR them when I am with them...)

I spend two months at a time away on work and it is really hard saying goodbye to my dogs when I have to leave. But I know that my neighbor takes good care of them for me, because they are always healthy and in good shape when I get back home...
